British Sea Power, The Rosebuds @ Cat's Cradle - 6 May 2008 (pics, live video/MP3s)

Last night I headed back to the Cat's Cradle for a second time in three days to see two of my most favorite current bands - British Sea Power and EAR FARM BBQ pals The Rosebuds. The two are currently on tour together, so it was a bit of a homecoming for The Rosebuds and their fans were out in full force showing love and appreciation by way of dancing and high fives. The set was loose and friendly and fun, made up of old favorites and cover songs; however, they didn't play "My Punishment For Fighting" so I left the show throwing a tantrum*. What? It's only one of the very best songs released in 2007.

British Sea Power were received with a bit more hesitation and curious wonder, clearly still in the midst of building up a North Carolina fanbase. The audience reacted favorably to a few of the more popular songs from the band's recent record Do You Like Rock Music?, but didn't really wake up until the monstrous seventeen minute version of "Carrion" that closed the set. Words can not express my love for the music of British Sea Power - on record, live, in music videos, whatever; therefore, pictures, video, MP3s, and coverage of their two shows this weekend in NYC will have to suffice.

Click through for pictures and live videos/MP3s from each band after the jump...

*alright, I didn't really throw a tantrum... but I have listened to "My Punishment For Fighting" more times than you can even imagine. Must hear that song again live. Must!

Wow! Great pics and video!! I was there last night and sadly left before British Sea Power. Looks like I missed out. But I <3 The Rosebuds so much and it was great to see Ivan and Kelly last night.

Love the site too. I wish there was an Earfarm in Raleigh or Chapel Hill.

This was a very good show
Jeffrey Lewis as eccentric as he is and different was a good inspiration and a mind opening experience (ha ha!)
The Rosebuds are a fantastic local band that deserves all the success...they are great!
BSP was really good altogether, solid sound and good songs (love Waving Flags) the ending with acrobatics, human trees and all was a good closing touch...
Cat's Cradle thanks once again!!
Ear Farm thanks too for the coverage.
>Brunette in black dress, golden purse and matching sandals...I will buy you a drink next time I see you, you were lovely hoe to see you again.

On second thought, he obviously isn't the type to submit a comment without proof-reading. He probably knew as soon as he typed the word, in fact. I retract the amusement.

Management of a fund for climate aid to poor countries has also been agreed, though how to raise the money has not.

Talks ran nearly 36 hours beyond their scheduled close, with many delegates saying the host government lacked urgency and strategy.

Nevertheless, there was applause in the main conference hall when South Africa's International Relations Minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, brought down the long-awaited final gavel.

In 2003, she published a book entitled Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry.

Mr Porter said the sale would be the "greatest private collection ever assembled in one place".

Taylor, who was best known for National Velvet, Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? died in Los Angeles in March at the age of 79.
