White Denim delivered a blistering wake-me-up set every bit as frenzied, reckless and confident as when we last caught them during one of the billion sets they played at SXSW in their native Austin. On Saturday, they were especially on point, with every slinky riff and chugging rhythm coalescing so urgently that the arms-folded crowd was worked into a semi-gyrating fervor (and that says a lot, keep in mind we're talking about NYC) by the third song.
There's something about this band that is just so immediate and satisfying: is it the howling vocals, incessant wah-wah, nimble basslines or pummeling drums? I'm going with all of the above. More pics (as well as their latest music video) after the jump...
Listen: "Let's Talk About It"
