The one time I attempted to see The Forms was ruined by rain and I swore I'd make a point of trying to see a full set by the band in the near future. That hasn't happened yet, and it's pretty terrible that I've not yet seen this band play a full/real set, but the future is still right in front of me. And with all of their upcoming October shows (man am I ticked I missed that recent show @ Cake Shop - but they are playing with The National again tonight) I think I just might get a chance to see The Forms live rather soon.
So, why The Forms?
Their debut record Icarus was 18 minutes of Steve Albini produced sonic goodness. Angular, tight, and yet soaring all at the same time, it was a highly promising debut album worth taking note of, and many did. Now The Forms have a second album due out on October 23rd, once again pairing with Albini, and appear set to expand their fanbase well outside the reaches of New York City clubs and opening slots that get cut short due to rain.
