Pitchfork releases top 50 albums of '05 list

Their top 10:
10. Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
9. Cam'ron - Purple Haze
8. LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
7. Animal Collective - Feels
6. Deerhoof - The Runners Four
5. Antony & the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now
4. M.I.A. - Arular
3. Art Brut - Bang Bang Rock & Roll
2. Kanye West - Late Registration
1. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

To me, that was very predictable. What do you guys think??

Okay, so maybe this wasn't so predictable:
9. Cam'ron - Purple Haze

But the rest of the top ten...boring. I would've loved it if they came out all crazy and DIDN'T put Illinois at the top.

I think their top 10 is pretty boring, predictable and actually terrible. But the whole list of 50 is worse. No Books, Bright Eyes, Caribou, Xiu Xiu, Sigur Ros or Broken Social Scene. While I'm not suggesting any of those be Top 10 material...surely all of those are among the 50 best releases. The worst thing in the top 10 is Art Brut...sorry, CRAP. Worst song of the year "My Brother" by Art Brut.

Cam'ron rules.

But I would have liked to see Stephen Malkmus or Okkervil River in that spot. And where was Tournament of Hearts? I don't think Illinois is the wrong choice, though. Solid artist, fantastic album. It would have been more disappointing had Wolf Parade snagged it.

i was surprised "picaresque" wasn't in the top ten, but what the hell.

the singles list was just horrible though.

interesting that after all that hullabaloo this yea Clap Your Hands Say Yeah only made it to #18. But looking through the full list now - there certainly was a whole lot of great music out this year. I'm having trouble putting a list of my own together because so many things rank so closely in my opinion.

i cant sleep anymore at night without getting this off my chest. my top 15 list needs to be altered after finally listening to deerhoof's runners four endlessly for the past few weeks. lets just say what the hell and put 'em at number two for best of the year. see? its never too late to change.

who would you knock out of your list then, or which album rather...?
now go get some rest.
