The Dodos @ The Tap Room - 13 March 2008 (SXSW Day 2, Pics)

The Dodos performed at the American Songwriter Day Party on Wednesday, a fitting event given that, um, this duo (Meric Long, Logan Kroeber) is American and just happens to write pretty wonderful songs too. Logic wins!

I had tried to see The Dodos on their last jaunt through New York but was left out in the (very literal, bitter) cold at Union Pool. This show more than made up for such prior difficulties, spotlighting the solid musicianship and interplay between the two in composing intricate, melodic mini-masterpieces reminiscent of a more linear and focused Animal Collective. The appreciative crowd and intimate setting just ever-so-slightly off the beaten path of SXSW madness were nice bonuses too.
