Tapes 'n Tapes @ Mercury Lounge, 9 January 2006

The hype-machine is operating in full force already. Tons of influencing people were at the show last night, and the other shows this past weekend that I was not able to attend...record label types, big time magazine editors, ex pumpkin smashers, NYC up and coming band members, local 'in-the-know' music fans, and (of course) the bloggers. Thankfully, Tapes 'n Tapes did not disappoint. I loved finally seeing this band live so much that I've written a variation on some well known lyrics to get the point across. If you want better pictures/coverage of any of their recent NYC shows, visit some of the links at the bottom here.

"On Fucking Fire" (to the tune of "Ring of Fire")

Buzz...is a burnin thing
and it makes...a scenester sing.
Bound...by blog desire
Tapes 'n Tapes is on fucking fire

Tapes 'n Tapes is on fucking fire
they went here, here, here
and the flames went higher.
And they rocked, rocked, rocked
they're so on fire
they're so on fire.

The sound...of Tapes is sweet
makes happy ears...and moves our feet.
We fell for them like a child
oh, and the town went wild.

Tapes 'n Tapes is on fucking fire
they went here, here, here
and the flames went higher.
And they rocked, rocked, rocked
they're so on fire
they're so on fire.

  • There were so many of us blog dorks at these shows...I think next time we should all meet up pre-show and form some kind of Justice League or something. Who else was there? What'd you think??

I'm glad you thought it was as good as I did. A lot of people are saying odd things today, about how boring or average it was. What the...?

If that's average, then I've been going to the wrong shows.

Whatever. Maybe they'll stay small long enough to actually enjoy them in these small venues.
